Am ales segment în cele din urmă prin asociere cu termenii din informatică: secvenţă şi segment de date, mai ales că e vorba de o codificare cu scopul de găsi secvenţele de aminoacizi în banca genetică.

Asker: Atunci chain ce este ? Să fie sinonime ? Nu ştiu ce să zic. La un moment dat am crezut că stretch e sinonim cu sequence, dar nu este: The P1Ap aminoacid sequence contains one stretch of hydrophobic residues, the size of a transmembrane helical domain, but no cleavable signal peptide at the N-terminus. Deci stretch este parte din sequence şi este o succesiune într-o anumită ordine, un segment din secvenţă. Seamănă cu un cod. e.g. the amino acid stretch SEAHTCVPENN Am găsit şi imagini, dar tot nu ştiu cum aş putea să-i spun.
