English term

return date

Non-PRO English to Japanese Marketing SAP
The context is
"compare return quantities (on the shipping date) with the return quantities (on the return date) for retail customers, so as to determine the actual sales figures."

実際の販売数を把握するために、小売顧客の***と***を比較します。

返却日/到着日/変換日 etc. I am not sure what is the best in this case.

Thank you everyone, all the answers and comments are helpful.
After all I like the Kawamura-san's.
Non-ProZ.com May 26, 2005:
Question: I'm afraid "return date" here should mean the date on which the returned item reached the company and not the date the sender sent the returning item.
If I say [ԕi], can I exactly mean the right day without misunderstanding?

返却日 or 帰国日

I found the definitions in Alc dictionary:
http://www.alc.co.jp
I supposed "帰国日" applies to human beings.

By saying ¥"帰国日¥" applies to human beings, I mean ¥"返却日¥" is appropriate in this case.

Yes, ¥"返却日¥" means the date on which the returned items reached the company. I think it is reasonable to compare quantities on the date of shipping with those on the date when the returned items reached the company.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Minoru Kuwahara : i would not suppose 帰国日 suits here, while as the context is marketing and the term is related to "return quantities", it would be possibly identified as 返却日. -

返品日

It seems that "shipping date" means 発送日 and "return date" menas 返品日 for the retailed article that has been sold to a customer. 返品 (returning the article) means that the article is returned by a customer because of some reason such as of inferior of the article or so.

I am not sure from the context in above that whether the return date is the date on which the returned item reached the company or not, if so, it should be 返品受領日 or 返品到着日. (In the case, I think the former is better because such a date should be confirmed by someone who is in charge of receiving the returned items.)

agree KathyT : I would agree with this, yumom-san.
