永遠

For tattoo, a shorter word is better, since you cannot have a lot of characters on your body. The word 永遠 (eien) would be most suitable.

In addition, tattooing Chinese characters is now popular in the States, and having them on your body will be cool.

とこしえに(classical) いつまでも(colloquial)

Using Kanji letters「とこしえに」 can be written as 「永遠に」

永久

I suppose that you want to know the Chinese character "forever" for your tattoo.

Although I don't know on what part of your body you are going to have the character, I would recommend using 永久 that doesn't have as many numbers of strokes of the Chinese character as those of 永遠. In MY opinion...well, I recognize that there are some people would prefer 永遠 to 永久...久 may be a better option for your tattoo than 遠 in that 久 looks much simpler than 遠. The simple is the best, right? Also, it may be easier for a tatooist to get you the simpler 久, which wouldn't take as much time for you to sit still on a tiny chair while getting it as the more complicated-looking 遠. It also would be easier for you to remove it in case you decided to do so, I suppose.

After all, it all depends on what YOU feel about these two characters. Which one looks cooler for you? Whichever you like, you go for it. Both of them should look cool!

Have fun!
