Chema Nieto Castañón I'd suggest <b>informe de(l) patólogo </b>versus <b>informe de(l) técnico</b>, but just guessing from little context [informe de(l)/informado por]. He encontrado algunos ejemplos donde IP parece referirse al investigador patólogo, pero en este caso no parece hacerse referencia a un estudio de investigación sino a un informe clínico. La referencia aquí al patólogo versus al técnico de anatomía patológica podría tener sentido. Tal vez el contexto más amplio ayude a determinar el sentido preciso de las iniciales.

However she reminded me acronyms used by laboratories are not standard and each one has their own way of identifying how they process samples at a macroscopic level and there are wide differences even within the same country.

To me this is the most informative bit here:

As you say, fotografías (de la) "immunoperoxidasa" does not make much sense. Fotografías macroscópicas "de la inclusión parcial" does not seem to work here either (I believe). Maybe (fotografías macroscópicas) "de las inclusiones parciales"?. Not sure about this. That is why a reference to the professional involved seems (to me) more likely. In Spain, a personal acronym would more naturally involve three and not two letters, which is the reason why I tend to think IP/IT might inform about pathologist vs. technician, for example. But as you say, acronyms in this context are used in a rather original way, so it is only the specific original context which might help dilucidate the particular meaning of the acronyms.
Biz_84 Could this be discussing two types of administration of medication: intrathecal (IT) and intraperitoneal (IP)
