English to German Tech/Engineering Mining & Minerals / Gems
Not more context than these two sentences describing the benefits and uses of the product in underground mining

• Reduction of excavation costs using the ***switchback inset***
• The ***switchback inset*** handles mine cars on two rails on one side of the shaft, saving space and material costs

I am considering "Anschlag" or "Füllort" for "inset and am mostly concerned wiith the switchback part of the term

In all honesty i'm not knowledgeable on this subject but was under the impression that the extract from the first source "Lehrbuch der Bergbaukunde mit besonderer Berücksichtigung des Steinkohlenbergbaus Erster Band © 1961
Authors: Fritzsche, Carl H." provides a pretty insight on the topic, specifically your concern with the term "switchback" in the mining context.
