@ Asker It appears your source text is seriously flawed EN, obviously "translated" from some other language! For example, one can only assume that "is be setted 2" was intended to be "is set to 2" — and the other errors in the text detract from its credibility.
My guess would be that this 'wiper tower' might well turn out to be some part of the 'scanning' mechanism — presumably, the part that handles scanning in the 'Z' dimension.
