I think traction means اصطکاک and friction means برخورد، سایش and also اصطکاک.
Maybe they have the same meaning.
And what terms do you suggest for each of them in Persian considering their definitions by Merriam-Webster's dictionary:
traction: the force that causes a moving thing to stick against the surface it is moving along
friction: the force that causes a moving object to slow down when it is touching another object
