Discussion

Johan Venter Jun 6, 2005:
If this has to do with in-line skating, then I am not so sure if my explanation is valid. This context was not supplied earlier, however.

Here is a link with a few picture of what I was referring to: http://www.kiefer.com/Kiefer/dept.asp?dept_id=149&gift=False...
Non-ProZ.com Jun 6, 2005:
OK,we're looking at this guy in the outfit he has chosen to wear to go with his 'skeelers'. 'It is light', (although how do we know from looking beats me), 'het keed snel af', and 'it looks very fast'(!?). I'm inclined towards 'snug fit' although 'snel' does confuse. On the other hand, 'easy to peel off' makes imminent (non)sense as well! Thank you all for thinking with!
Johan Venter Jun 6, 2005:
Because one has a lot of time before the race to put it on as swimming is always the first event. The 'peeling off' of the clothing after the swimming leg in a triathlon is quite hectic; I've been to many and even participated in some short course events.
Johan Venter Jun 6, 2005:
Bodysuits have a slimming effect as they are quite tight, and in the process also make the wearer aerodynamic, so with a lack of more context I'll stick to my answer.
Non-ProZ.com Jun 6, 2005:
but Ive only just noticed the second suggestion, sorry. Only if it's easy to take off why not to put on?
Non-ProZ.com Jun 6, 2005:
Not a lot Im afraid. I was confused by 'snel'; ok it has a slimming effect, maybe snel is of no consequence? Like in met dit aan zie je er snel dik?
writeaway Jun 6, 2005:
any more context?

Depending on the context/sport it could mean that the (bodysuit, swimsuit?) allows one to take it off quick and easy. In triathlons, for instance, many athletes wear bodysuits to keep their bodies warm in cold water and/or to improve their speed in the water. When they come out of the water they have to change into cycling gear as quickly as possible for the next leg of the triathlon.

agree Robert Kleemaier : much more likely

(immediately) makes you look smaller

Don't know if this suggestion fits your context-
When something -afkleed- it can also mean you look slimmer (smaller) than you actually are (like wearing black ;))
