This is an article describing the methodology used during a phase II clinical trial of two hypnotics (i.e. sleeping pills). One part of the trial involves a psychologist's visit to the patient's house where a couple of questionnaires and test are administered. Here is the passage with my mystery term:

Behalve de vragenlijsten werd een zogenaamde "letter-schraptest" agenomen. Deze test bestaat uit eenaantal pagina's, waarop in een 12x12 matrix tekens, letters en cijfers zijn afgebeeld. Patient kreeg per pagina van de psycholoog te horen welke tekens, cijfers of letters moesten worden doorgestreept. Een goede prestatie vergt alterheid, een goede geheugenfunctie en een snelle reactie.

I cannot find any dictionary reference or Google hit for a "letter-schraptest." It seems like it might be similar to a "schrapkaart" (optical scan form), but the literal sense is of course more a "letter deletion/scratch-out test" and it seems like the term sooner comes from methodologies in psychological testing, cf. ink blot tests, etc.

I'm hoping someone has a good reference or notion from personal experience or an educated what this kind of test might be called in (American) English. Thanks in advance!
