Catalonia prior to unification with Aragon Explanation: Hello Dave. According to the dE Dictionary, "Barcelona Comtal" is "City of the Counts." Meaning that"Catalonia of the Counts" is one possibility. Another alternative bearing the following in mind (from the Encyclopaedia Britanica) "From 1137, when Count Ramon Berenguer IV of Barcelona was betrothed to Petronila, queen of Aragon, Catalonia and Aragon were united under the same ruler." would be "Catalonia prior to unification with Aragon".
