Can't think of an idiomatic way to phrase this!

Context:
حالة الإجماع الوطني، التي تمخض عنها منجز دستوري، تم الانقلاب عليه من قبل جماعة الحوثي في 21 سبتمبر 2014م، وحلفائها من جماعة الرئيس السابق علي عبد الله صالح

I'm stuck on a rather ugly literal translation: "The state of national consensus which resulted in..."
Unless that sounds fine to other people and I've just been staring at the sentence for too long?
Thinking about it, even "The national consensus", omitting حالة, could be an improvement.

Any suggestions? Thank you!
