English term

a flake

Non-PRO English to French Other Other
In description of a son describing his father when they were growing up: "My impression of him was that he was a flake."

This is a slang term we use in the U.S. which implies that a person is inconsistent, forgetful, unorganized, absent-minded...something to that effect.

flake veut dire excentrique, dingue peut vouloir dire bizarre, donc exentrique

for your interpretation (absent-minded, etc) - but that is not what I thought "flake" meant!

nuances

5. Slang A somewhat eccentric person; an oddball.

As a noun, it is a person who is completely fake. They constantly need attention and must be liked by everyone, even if it means stabbing someone else in the back to do it (as long as the other person doesn't find out, and if they do, everything can be solved by a *hug*).
