As far as i concerned awesome in malay is "menggerunkan" and "bayak" is that correct?

i think the words dahsyat/hebat is more appropriate e.g. he is an awesome player = dia adalah seorang pemain yang hebat is more accurate than dia adalah seorang pemain yang menggerunkan.

agree Ramona Ali : or mengagumkan. Dahsyat is only used in the e.g. you gave during conversation, but in actual fact it carries a negative connotation whereas 'awesome' is positive.
