When an employee want to stop working tomorrow. Perhaphs she is sick or need to do sth. They notify the employer in advance.
What do you call this process. I need a noun. Can I call 'leave' But leave has too many meaning. Let suggest another.

Notice in advance, (advance notice, notice)
For example, I gave my manager notice in advance that I would be on holiday next month. You can also say advance notice, or just notice.

leave of absence notice: I gave my boss the leave of absence notice, which could be verbal or written.
leave of absence application: I submitted my leave of absence application, which is always written. And when I do this, I write the Subect: Application for Leave of absence.
