Going to make a bit of a fuss
about the plural here.
Just bear in mind that there
are *several* variables X and
*several* variables Y, and follow
the French closely.
Presumably you sum X_i Y_j rather
than X_i Y_i but the context matters.
Not sure what you are looking for ... you seem bothered by random variables
more than linguistic issues.
