"parafuso de rosca soberba"
I suspect this type of thread is self-tapping. Would it simply be a "self-tapping screw"? Or is it a self-tapping screw with a shank?
It is apparently different from a "parafuso auto-atarraxante", hence the question.
The sites below show or indicate that "parafusos auto-atarraxantes" and "parafusos de rosca soberba" are different things.

Also, the site below gives a clear definition of what a BOLT is (very enlightening). Unfortunately, the distinction between a bolt (pino, cavilha) and a screw (parafuso) seems to be even more confusing in Portuguese.

Comment: "É isso mesmo, Clauwolf! Solicitei informações à empresa BemFixa, que sugeriu uma consulta à CISER. Telefonei para a CISER em Joinville e um técnico (Fábio) consultou a norma em inglês para esse tipo de parafuso e mencionou dois nomes que constavam do documento:
- TAPPING SCREW
- WOOD THREAD
Curiosamente, o nome mencionado NÃO era SELF-TAPPING SCREW, mas apenas tapping screw (confirmei isso com ele). Apesar disso, acho que self-tapping screw também é uma boa solução, pois ocorre com o dobro da freqüência na net.
O técnico explicou ainda que auto-atarraxantes geralmente são usados em metal, enquanto rosca soberba é usado em madeira, mas a distinção dos nomes (inclusive o nome "parafuso de madeira") é apenas para satisfazer ao mercado.
