Swedish term

pjäs

Swedish to English Tech/Engineering Military / Defense Equipment
Not "piece" or "chessman". I think this has to do with mortars or artillery.

"Provningen bedrevs inom ramen för validering av Archer Pjäs och enligt omfattning i kap.1.2." is one of the sentences given.

piece, or gun

I asked my Swedish-native-speaker son, who immediately said "Archer... that's an artillery piece". Also, I see "piece, gun" for this military-related sense in the Norstedt Sw>En Ordbok.

To be precise, the dictionary entry says "piece [of ordnance]... gun". It seems pretty clear to me that you can use the term "piece" to translate this. It'll work fine in context.

agree Deane Goltermann : 'Piece' is correct in general contexts. Generally. But your sentence has Archer Pjäs (caps) which tells me this is its formal designation. That designation is 'Archer Artillery System' here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archer_Artillery_System)
