Ukrainian term

Все, що робили ми наповнюється з містом.

Non-PRO Ukrainian to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature KOZAK SYSTEM - імпровізація на заправці. Херсон - це Україна!

This line is sung in the 4th verse. I especially don't know, how to translate наповнюється in this context. I know, it means something like is filling/filled up, but that makes no sense. Then I'm not sure, but I'm also hearing a з before містом. So what's that supposed to be: with the city?

As you can tell, I'm totally lost and confused. I also know some Polish, where it would be napełni się, but that makes no sense, either.

So I need a native Ukrainian, who also knows English well enough, to give me the correct and understandable translation in this context.

Thank you for all your help! I love this song immensely!

Discussion

bochkor (asker) Aug 13, 2023:
It looks like I can only choose between "sense" or "meaning", although meaningful = значущий, so the latter is not the right fit, especially since зміст = content(s). So it's much closer to say then, that "Everything we did, starts to make sense".

наповнюється змістом, i.e. with sense.

Besides the meaning of 'contents' "Зміст" is translated in English as sense, matter. So the whole phrase means 'All our previous deeds start to get sense', or 'start to matter".
Note from asker:
You didn't translate the first word, but I think, the whole phrase should be in English "Everything, we did, starts to make sense".

it is a plain typo in your source
з містом,
should be jointly
змістом
Note from asker:
I understand наповнюється as "is filling up", but not as "is getting". And I still don't understand змістом, which Google Translate says, it means "content", because content = вміст. The other translator wrote, it means "sense". Sorry, but I still don't get it.
Can you not explain, how вміст became зміст, if both mean contents? Could he have sung наповнюється вмістом? Why are there 2 words for "contents"? Is there a difference in meaning between the two? After all, в = in and з = with. That's quite a difference, wouldn't you say?
