@ Paul Would "neighbourhoods" work? I am sure this type of idea is a little closer than the standard literal translations used, in terms of English target usage. I see the term as referring to something similar to UK administrative wards, but referring more to the actual residential networks, than to the political connotations of "ward".

@ Paul - Tessuti Wouldn't they mean "network" in this case? I don't think fabric works here, even though it is often used in urban descriptions. The context given so far reminds me of when I lived in France and they used to say agglomerations.
I am putting this forward in discussion box as I need more context or background to where this comes from. Is that possible?

We had this recently, perhaps in another language, I can't remember, and the asker wasn't familiar with 'fabric'. I said 'structure(s)' was an alternative. It doesn't mean 'district' as far as I can see.

@Phil I think they are districts, but they are officially called "tessuti" which I might leave in at the beginning.

Not true Very rarely close without points and contribute regularly to the glossary. But perhaps "fabric" is okay if looked at in its specificity, viz.,
