Spanish term

escala

Can anyone help with this please?
Scale doesn't seem right. Levels maybe? But I'm not convinced.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

@Comunican You're very welcome. :-)
Comunican (asker) Jun 5, 2023:
@Domini Lucas Many thanks for all your help on this!
neilmac Jun 5, 2023:
My take I'd have no qualms about using "scale". A scale is a grading structure/hierarchy. Cf. "pay scale".
Domini Lucas Jun 5, 2023:
local government job search Job sites like this one https://jobs.localgov.co.uk/jobs/manager/ bring up local government jobs. e.g. https://jobs.localgov.co.uk/job/170944/operations-and-facili...
Some of them will lead you to a further page with a pdf job description e.g. chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://www.tendringdc.gov.uk/sites/default/files/Operations... which is why I followed through that particular job. You'll see the job grade (6-8) top right. However, not all of the jobs seem to lead to a downloadable pdf in the public domain, so can't be sure you will find them for the equivalent job roles cited in your text.

Hope this is of some help. All strength to you for the rest!
Domini Lucas Jun 5, 2023:
@Comunican Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
This link also speaks of career grades and also mentions hierarchy as posted by @Alberto. chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://www.local.gov.uk/sites/default/files/documents/tech-...
The UK recruitment links I've found so far refer to coming in at the bottom, e.g. via apprenticeships but this local government link also speaks of grading structure, though it includes pay. https://www.local.gov.uk/about/who-we-are-and-what-we-do/wha... When I recruited in the NHS pay and grade/band were linked. If you're not already aware, the grade is linked to the skills needed for a job role and the pay progression within it depending on years of experience/service e.g. chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://peoplefirst.nhsbt.nhs.uk/NHSBT-DOCUMENT-LIBRARY/Poli...
Muriel Vasconcellos Jun 5, 2023:
Grade vs. Scale International employees are assigned grades. They are paid by according to a "salary scale."
Comunican (asker) Jun 5, 2023:
@Domini Lucas Hi Domini and thank you for your question. It is related to selection processes. Another example from the text: "Gestión de procesos selectivos para el acceso a cuerpos y escalas de la Administración General del Estado"
Domini Lucas Jun 5, 2023:
@Comunican - context Just wondering what the wider context is? Is it pay or wider? If pay scale/grade, and in some cases, points, band. If wider, will think.

Simone Taylor Jun 5, 2023:
Oh maybe because I am in England it appears in English for me, but it was translated automatically? Sorry, then we can't trust it then. It is difficult to know nowadays, they don't even ask you anymore. Dangerous!
Comunican (asker) Jun 5, 2023:
@Simone Taylor Thank you for this, but I can't see the English version on the link you've given... ??
Simone Taylor Jun 5, 2023:
...regulates the structure and access to the scale of Local Administration officials with authorization of national character...
Simone Taylor Jun 5, 2023:
Scale This text appears in English with scale and it sounds all right to me.

Or grade structure depending on how you work your sentence. The same link ends with:

Just a possibility. Cheers.
Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : This would be OK in other circumstances, but how do you then translate "subescalas"?

neutral AllegroTrans : No, not in this context
