Spanish term

IRM

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general)
Prurito nasal con cierta IRM variable.

This appears in a rhinology medical report. What does "IRM" refer to here?

Thank you!

Discussion

neilmac May 30, 2023:
Agree An MRI scan seems a rather expensive way to diagnose an itchy nose. Most likely IRN.
Chema Nieto Castañón May 30, 2023:
I believe Althea is in the right track; IRN (nasal breathing difficulty) sí tendría sentido en el contexto dado.
Daniela Otheguy May 30, 2023:
If there are mistakes in the source, you'll have to analyze very carefully before deciding, but I'd go with Christine's hunch.
Christine Western (asker) May 30, 2023:
Very likely I do have the source document, but it has other spelling and punctuation errors in it, so I think your suggestion is very likely to be right here. Thank you! It fits perfectly.
philgoddard May 30, 2023:
It's a lot more likely.
Althea Draper May 30, 2023:
Christine Is this the original report you have or is it an OCR of the original? The reason I ask is that IRN (Insuficiencia respiratoria nasal - nasal respiratory insufficiency) might be a bit more likely in this context.

I'm not sure if this applies to the context, but I can't come up with anything else. Good luck

neutral philgoddard : I doubt this given the context.

Yes, it does sound unusual to get an MRI done. It does look like a misspelled term, hence the confusion.
