Russian term

окейность

Russian to English Art/Literary Slang
I need some advice about this word, which doesn't exist in Russian. It appears to be an invented word, a combination of the English word "okay" + the Russian suffix -ность.

The context is as follows:

Для того чтобы обрести равновесие, мы начинаем прикладывать еще больше усилий, чтобы восстановить свою окейность, используя рабочий стиль.

Thanks in advance!

Sarah McDowell (asker) Mar 22, 2023:
Thanks Irina and everyone In my Oxford dictionary it's not a word, but now I see that it is a term used in transactional analysis, which is indeed the topic I am translating about.
IrinaN Mar 22, 2023:
Sarah, the word has creeped into existence Another spelling - okayness. It appears even on the American Psychological Association site.

Turdimurod Rakhmanov Mar 22, 2023:
I dare say that in this specific text OK is used to mean the person's normal, or ideal or perfect state.
I would guess that idealness or perfection makes sense in here. Nobody is ideal but as I guess it is someone's thinking about himself or others' views about this person.
But would opt for adequacy if "OK" should not be translated.
If you want to keep the style as in Russian, you may just say: get back to our "normal", return to our "all-right"
Turdimurod Rakhmanov Mar 22, 2023:
окейность Hi all,
окейность could mean various things, and in different senses, more context would be helpful to make sure. for example, in what sector, who is speaking, etc.

Thank you, Sarah!
Note from asker:
Thanks for ideas! Integrity sounds good. OKness is not a word in English.

get back to our normal / get back to our Okey (condition)

It depends,
It is not clear from the context that the speaker is saying this in the sense of normal or satisfactory,
get back or return to normal
or get back to our all right or satisfactory condition

I would go for "adequacy" which means the quality of being good enough or great enough in amount to be acceptable. and can be equivalent for окейность

Everyone is OK

Transactional Analysis (TA) is a cohesive collection of concepts, each describing human beings and our patterns of thinking, believing, feeling and behaving. Each of us has value individually, and together paint a philosophical and practical way to understand what is happening between people, and within people. It is a comprehensive, scientific, and effective way to communicate with influence, resolve conflict, and problem solve at your highest level.

The three assumptions of TA:

Everyone is OK: we all have inherent value and are worthy of being treated with dignity and respect regardless of their behavior or life circumstances.
Everyone has the capacity to think and decide for themselves and solve their own problems. Decisions can be changed.
Physis – growth and development is our natural desire like a flower turning toward the sun.
Everyone is OK
The concept of OKness is one of the most enduring and powerful ideas in Transactional Analysis. Being ‘OK’ has a deep and profound meaning attached to it. It means that everyone has value, worth, and dignity as a human being.

Being OK does not depend on conditions being met or behaviour. It is your birthright and the truth of who you are. The idea that ‘Everyone is OK’ is a profound philosophical stance that people have inherent worth and dignity, without needing to earn it, prove it or improve upon it. This means people are worthy of being treated with mutual value and respect. Okness is mutual – I’m OK and so are you.
