Duda de traducción al inglés
Tengo en duda cuál es la mejor forma de traducir boda civil en inglés para un pequeño proyecto en el que trabajo. Siento que sólo la palabra wedding estaría bien, o pudiese ser civil marriage o wedding.

: I think there's more to this than meets the eye, and we don't have the context. Surely matrimonio is the legal state of marriage, not the ceremony.

civil marriage ceremony or civil wedding
We talk about civil marriage as a concept but if you are referring to the ceremony itself I think you need to say 'civil marriage ceremony', whereas with 'wedding' you can say just 'civil wedding'. It might help to know some context to know which terms would work best.

Apologies, I should have put this as a comment to Darius's answer, wasn't trying to get any credit, just provide some extra detail.

: with civil marriage (doubling as a married state) or civil wedding e.g ante *Notario/a*. IMO play safe & keep the 2 separate as no country of origin mentioned e.g. Mex. https://www.elcorteingles.es/bodamas/tramites-necesarios-par...

Non-religious wedding
Estoy seguro, pero lo define por lo que NO es, que quizás no sea apropiado.

: I don't agree with your method and "civil ceremony/wedding" is virtually the universal term

civil rights marriage
It's a legal marriage between a couple without the same type of ceremony as a religious marriage.
(ES: Es un matrimonio legal entre una pareja sin los mismos tipos de ceremonias que lleva un matrimonio religioso.)

: Sadly not; 'civil rights' never apply in this context.

: No such thing. The marriage you are referring to is simply a "civil marriage"; "civil rights" is something else entirely; why do you keep on posting (often dodgy) translations of your explanations?
