βραδυψυχισμός
Greek to English
Medical
Medical (general)
Έντονη ικτερική χροιά δέρματος και επιπεφυκότων
Βραδυψυχισμός από ωρών, GCS 15
This concerns a child with severe liver failure. Is there a suitable term for βραδυψυχισμός, given that the child is fully conscious?
Perhaps "cognitive slowing" or something like that?
I'm not sure about words like "bradyphrenia" (still less "bradypsychia") which I've only seen within the last few minutes.

Hi Dylan
It's a higher-register term to refer to slow(er) cognitive/mental activity.
There are several instances of the term in papers on pubmed: https://europepmc.org/search?query=bradypsychia
I wouldn't say it's widely used, though, so I'd put an explanation (e.g. slow cognitive activity) between parentheses in the EN text, just to be on the safe side.

Comment: "Thank you, Katerina. I see it's a "preferred name" in MedDRA terminology. "
