German term

Vorlage

German to English Law/Patents Law (general) German Trade Secrets Act (GeschGehG)
I have to translate § 23 (3) of the Gesetz zum Schutz von Geschäftsgeheimnissen (GeschGehG), but have no clue what a Vorlage is hier.

Compare with this:
"The executive’s fraud was discovered when another employee saw confidential source documents on the employee’s desk that had been falsified." https://www.coursehero.com/file/27258723/horngrenacctg12-ch0...

presentation

I think that is the best word that is suitable. Vorlegung = Presentation

sample / master

At first glance I would just use document here, as in confidential document (geheime Vorlage) but the problem is we have Vorlage oder Vorschrift of a technical nature, and Vorschrift in this context seems to be specification. So Vorlage has to somehow exclude specification, but a specification can be a document and vice versa. So, I would propose using something like sample, pattern, master copy, template, or even mold (mould in British English). You could even use more than one.

...a trade secret which is a confidential document or a technical specification entrusted to him in the course of business.
Note from asker:
Thank you! I used them along with source document. That's what the customer wanted.
