English term

cramp

English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
If you think you may have a problem with your pregnancy, your doctor should see you within three (3) days of your call or right away if it is an emergency.

Call your doctor immediately if you have any of these symptoms:

Feel like you’re going to start your period (period-like cramping)
Stomach cramps (you may or may not have diarrhea with this)

Cramp has two meanings. Sudden muscle contradiction, or pain in the abdomen. I don't know it refers to which in this case.

Does it have the SAME meaning in both sentences?

Pain in the abdomen (see below)

With or without contractions (not contradictions), although usually with. But there may be cases when there are no sudden contractions, simply an onset of pain that may also cause diarrhoea but does not come in waves (contractions). Similarly, period pains may come and go or be more constant and still be referred to as cramping.

If you look at this sentence from the link I supplied:
"The term stomach cramps is nonspecific and is used to refer to a number of different symptoms or sensations rather than true muscle cramps of the stomach."
you can see that the word "cramps" can be interpreted in different ways. If the reader only assumes it to mean contractions, then they may wrongly ignore (perhaps severe) pain that has significance here, so I would assume that the meaning should be taken to be the same.
Note from asker:
Does it mean the same in both cases?

Spasmodic contractions of the uterus usually causing pain in the abdomen

Cramps: spasmodic contractions of the uterus, such as those occurring during menstruation or labor, usually causing pain in the abdomen that may radiate to the lower back and thighs.

Since the context is about pregnancy, I think the above definition fits this context.
