: This is perfectly apropos in this specific context because the wish happens to be an expression of regret for having spoken. It really hits the spot. For other situations in which "I wish to God" is used, one would need a more general expression.

: The subordinate clause is grammatically incorrect, but the translation of the phrase in question conveys the intended sense: يا إلهي ليتني، ليتني والله، تمنيت ورب العزة، تمنيت والله الشاهد، الخ
