Design Approach: The Life and Memory Galleries will serve as a mediation point between two distinct but integrated landscapes, equally integral to the nature of AlUla's cultural heritage. In recognition of both this central location and its mission as a landmark of regional heritage, the organisation and aesthetics of the Galleries will remain sympathetic to its traditional surroundings with a modern rendition in keeping with the spirit of renewal. Life and Memory Galleries will be integrated, reflecting and confirming to the organisation and aesthetics of Old Town and the Summer Orchards through sympathetic massing and materials as well as a sense of scale that is deferential to its surroundings; connected, restoring conceptually and physically the traditional interconnectity of the Old Town and Summer Orchards and creating places to facilitate gathering and interaction; and invested, with the design process seeking ways to engage AlUla's community in the construction and maintenance of their dedicated cultural asset.
