Historical costumes
In a series of descriptions of costumes in tapestries. Context: "Comme dans le texte, l'homme porte un manteau de camelot tanné à ondes mais pour le reste, costumes de fantaisie." What is "tanné à ondes", please? Some different form of tanning for leather? Thanks in advance for any help.

It you look at this picture and read:
"...avec broderie centrale ourlet tanné à ondes passants en tissu maille respirante",
you have a picture of this detail.
This may help a translator who is competent in this area (I'm not)

Discussion
Water camlets "after weaving, received a certain preparation with water; and were afterwards passed under a hot press, giving them a smoothness and lustre"
However, this same reference tells us about waved camlet which features impressed waves which would fit better with the French translation of the original Spanish! I suppose your choice would depend on whether you have to be true to the original Spanish or the French translation.
