Spanish term

Dx de envio

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) Lab report
In a Spanish medical report, I have this phrase:

Dx de envio: Seguimiento par antecedente de ependimoma.

Any suggestions for "Dx de envio"?

Discussion

Lirka Aug 9, 2020:
Dx is definitely Diaqnosis. DDx is differential diagnosis.
Joseph Tein Aug 8, 2020:
@David You can be sure that it is indeed Diagnosis. First, look at the entries for Dx in Cosnautas (our trusted, go-to, best online resource for Spanish medical abbreviations and acronyms):

1 diagnóstico {→ Dco. 1}
2 diagonal
3 dextrosa {→ G 26}

Also Ian Beattie's exhaustive hardcover Medical Abbreviations - Spanish/English book shows Dx = diagnóstico.

Nobody shows Dx = dirección, and as Maria said ... there is no address given.

From the little that our asker gives us (we could have used a bit more background) it only makes sense that this is the admitting diagnosis (they don't always give a specific disease/disorder as the diagnosis), the reason for the referral.

I think the asker can easily make the decision.

David Hollywood Aug 8, 2020:
asker now has to take the decision
David Hollywood Aug 8, 2020:
I'm not sure it's "diagnosis" despite agrees etc.
David Hollywood Aug 8, 2020:
Hi María and yes but I think "envío" and what follows in the ST indicates that so...
María Patricia Arce Aug 8, 2020:
Hi David!
Dx is widely used in medical jargon in Spanish as an abbreviation for diagnosis. If Dx stands for "dirección", shouldn't it be followed by an address?
David Hollywood Aug 8, 2020:
but in combination with "envío" looks more like "dirección"
David Hollywood Aug 8, 2020:
DX can also be "diagnosis" so....

Dirección de envío

Dx abreviatura de "dirección"
Peer comment(s):

disagree Joseph Tein : Absolutely Not. Dx is an abbreviation for Diagnosis; "direccion" does not make any sense in this context. Also ... the asker needs a translation into English; this answer is Spanish (and again, incorrect).

disagree David Maldonado : Dx is conventionally used as an abbreviation for "Diagnosis" in Spanish (Medical/Healthcare)

neutral Joseph Tein : "diagnosis" es una traducción fantástica, pero ¿qué pasó con "de envio"?

Consideré que no haría falta, ya que se entendería a qué se refiere en el contexto del texto en su totalidad
