Stefanie Sendelbach Apr 4, 2004:
Ron, the term "Stuetz-" here is used to stress the supporting function, whereas the term "Bewegung" refers to everything that helps us to move, such as muscles and tendons.

Johanna I mustn't have searched correctly. I couldn't find it in a search. I guess you have to have exactly the right form. By the way, my Reuters is listing "Bewegungsapparat" as muskuloskeletal system. So I had been wondering if "Stuetz-" would need to be something different???

And yes, Ron, you have to type in \"Stütz- und Bewegungsapparat\" to find the entry in the glossary.

skeleton

I would just put it as "skeleton" here. What is meant is the BONES in opposition to SKIN and MUSCLES.

They are definitely NOT talking about braces and collars here, though you will get these terms looking up medical dictionaries with the term "Stützapparat".
