Discussion

Marie Wilson (asker) Jan 29, 2020:
Neil And add to the mix the problem of seeing everything in segments and not the whole picture and the fear of copying and pasting names!
Neil Ashby Jan 29, 2020:
;-) no problem Marie, done it myself loads of times (found more context or even the solution later in the text)!
Marie Wilson (asker) Jan 29, 2020:
Sorry Sorry about that. Basically, the first time it came up in the text, that was it, but I double-checked and the second example had a bit more context.
Neil Ashby Jan 29, 2020:
Marie

"Hi Neil, not sure about that because it has a date, "El parte de espera del forense de (DATE) señalaba ...""

so you did have more context then....
Marie Wilson (asker) Jan 28, 2020:
@Helena Yes, thanks, the explanation given is quite clear and I understand it, just not sure of how to express it.
Helena Chavarria Jan 28, 2020:
@Marie Have you managed to find the text? I agree that it seems to be an 'in-between' report. The only thing that comes to mind at the moment is Updated/modified version of the report issued by the state (Initial Official Report?)
Marie Wilson (asker) Jan 28, 2020:
Thanks, Helena. That's useful. I'm still not clear about the "de espera" bit in English. Seems like the in-between period.
Helena Chavarria Jan 28, 2020:
According to the text there are three reports: 'Parte de Estado', 'Parte de espera' and 'Parte o declaración de sanidad'.
Helena Chavarria Jan 28, 2020:
I can't copy the text but there's a definition here.

'Parte' here means 'report'.

Where ancillary investigations, such as toxicology, DNA, virology, and so on, take a considerable time to be made available, it may advisable to issue an interim provisional report. However, the medico-legal expert must make it clear that no final opinion can be given until all information is available and that the provisional report may be modified, sometimes greatly, by the final report.

Paediatricians with child protection responsibilities must evaluate cases which are subject to both child protection and criminal investigations. This evaluation requires an opinion which should be given in writing in the form of an interim medico-legal report. At a later time a second report may be required once investigations are considered complete.

Another option is 'interim medico-legal report'.

Marie, I'm glad to have helped. Thanks for the points :-)

That's great, Helena. Perfect!
Thanks again!

agree James A. Walsh : Looked at this earlier and was thinking along these lines, but didn't have time to pursue it. Definitely think "interim/provisional" (with the "/") is the way to go here. Otherwise it reads strangely redundant.
