English term

threated fixation

English to German Medical Medical (general)
Hallo
Ich übersetze gerade einen medizinischen Text und verstehe dies nicht ganz Kontext:
- Lack of activation of memory shape staple (secondary effects specific to BIPOD and QUADRIPOD SHAPE MEMORY staple)
- Hallux varus (secondary effect specific to threated fixation)

Discussion

Angeles Barbero (asker) May 20, 2019:
Vielen Dank für all eure Hilfe
Ich werde Implantat mit Schraubenfixierung benutzen.
Stuart and Aida Nelson May 20, 2019:
Implantat und Operation Ich würde nicht sagen, dass ein Implantat eine Operation ist, sondern dass ein Implantat durch eine Operation angelegt ist. Außerdem hier geht es um Nebenwirkungen, die auftreten, aufgrund von Implantate die nicht richtig positionert wurden.
Angeles Barbero (asker) May 19, 2019:
Secondary effects NO0501
- Instability and/or limitation of the articular mobility due to a bad positioning of the implant (except for arthrodesis)
Angeles Barbero (asker) May 19, 2019:
There is not much context, it is about secondary effects
Stuart and Aida Nelson May 19, 2019:
Does the text not have a specific subject?
Angeles Barbero (asker) May 19, 2019:
Hi, I really have no idea, I am a bit lost
Stuart and Aida Nelson May 19, 2019:
@ Angeles I would think that threaded fixation is a kind of special method and not a surgery. Can you give us a clue as to what is the text about or relevant context to give other suggestions? According to the references you have provided, I can only gather that these are treatments for the feet, however, it is not clear what is the function or purpose of the said 'threaded fixation'
Angeles Barbero (asker) May 18, 2019:
Danke Michael
Stuart and Aida Nelson May 18, 2019:
Good to know, great! Thank you. I also think that Esther is on the right track.
Angeles Barbero (asker) May 18, 2019:
I guess it must be threaded
Stuart and Aida Nelson May 18, 2019:
Yes, but a typo for threaded or treated?
Angeles Barbero (asker) May 18, 2019:
Thanks, probably a typo, yes
- Metatarsus primus elevates ( secondary effecto specific to threated fixation
Stuart and Aida Nelson May 17, 2019:
@ Angeles Can you confirm if this is maybe a typo and if it is probably 'threaded' as found out by Kim or maybe 'treated'? Perhaps a bit more context could be useful as well. What I don't understand is: if this is used to treat hallux rigidus why would the patient get hallus varus as a secondary effect?
Angeles Barbero (asker) May 17, 2019:
Thanks Esther, yes I found something with Gewinde.
Esther Pugh May 17, 2019:
Good find, Kim! It can't be "threated" or "threated fixation" ....... there's threaded, threaten, treated, but not "threated";

in this particular case, I'd go for something along the lines of "Verankerung mit Gewinde"

Screw vs Plate Fixation

Locking plates and screws consist of threaded screw heads and plate holes that allow one to insert the screw into the plate itself, thereby facilitating a form of cortical purchase.

Hallux varus

Hallux varus, or sandal gap,[1] is a deformity of the great toe joint where the hallux is deviated medially (towards the midline of the body) away from the first metatarsal bone. The hallux usually moves in the transverse plane. Unlike hallux valgus, also known as hallux abducto valgus or bunion, hallux varus is uncommon in the West but it is common in cultures where the population remains unshod.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallux_varus

Hallux varus is a clinical condition characterized by medial deviation of the great toe at metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint. This condition may present with varying degrees of severity, causes, and symptoms. Adult acquired hallux varus deformity is commonly iatrogenic, commonly resulting from surgery for hallux valgus. (1,2,3)
A patient may have difficulty in walking and wearing shoes. Mild hallux varus can be managed with stretching exercises and splints. However, if the symptoms become significant and affect daily activities, then surgery should be considered.[1][2]

Etiology

Rarely, hallux varus is congenital. Flexible hallux varus may be found in newborns and reflects their intrauterine positioning. It corrects to valgus in early childhood when walking begins.[3]
More frequently this deformity develops after a surgical procedure for hallux valgus because of overcorrection, excessive lateral release, over-resection of medial eminence, over-plication of the medial capsule, zero-degree or negative intermetatarsal angle, or immobilization of the toe in excessive varus after surgery. Other causes include trauma and certain systemic inflammatory diseases such as psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis.
