business interests are involvement of businesses or involvement in businesses. This term is reserved for high ranking officers or shareholders of a business. These are the people who have a high stake in the success of a business. They dont just work there and they dont have to work there to have an interest in the business. A large shareholder is an example of a non officer/employee who has a business interest. A creditor, someone who lends money to a business, also has a business interest.
