@ Jonathan Sometimes there is more than one correct translation for machine keys or buttons. Therefore I recommend that you contact the manufacturer to see whether the instructions for this machine or any other machines have been translated into English before. If that is so, then it it highly likely that the manufacturer has already coined English names for those keys or buttons. There is nothing worse than completing a perfectly good translation of a technical description and then finding out that the names that you have chosen for the keys or buttons are not identical with the names that the manufacturing company has written on the labels of those keys or buttons.
Should the "Taster" be keys on a touchscreen then I recommend that you ask the manufacturer for screenshots.

In that case, you should have posted a separate question for each of these terms.

"Eingabe" could be either input (in the sense of data input via the touch panel) or (material) feed, although the latter interpretation strikes me as somewhat odd (Eingabe = Zufuhr?). Other than that, "filling station/unit", "stroke" and "carriage" might be worth considering. A drawing or photo of the machine would definitely be helpful to identify the shape/design of the "Schlitten", for example.

Button titles I find it helpful sometimes to give a button like this a simpler label at first. This can make it easier to parse the sentence. Make a little table with the German four-word name and index it A - B - C etc. Then your sentence is, 'Mit den Tastern „A“ kann der Antrieb A beim Betätigen des entsprechenden Tasters tippend in die gewählte Richtung verfahren werden.' Translate as usual, then think of good English equivalents for the long German names and pop them in the translation wherever you have an index letter.

Hello thank you for your response. First this is a candle making machine. Filling refers to filling paraffin into glass jars. There are Tasten on a touch panel. These 4-noun compound button names are puzzling; the words are easy enough to translate but what the author wants to say with them is not readily apparent (at least to me). This is what I am hoping to get - some guidelines in approaching these button names. Of course I am also interested in the correct understanding of the sentence. Tippend could be referring to jog mode, or tapping the button. So I would be grateful for any light here.

I assume it means to operate by tapping the appropriate key, but I'm not sure what is going on here. Does this thing have keys to move it in different directions? What is the "simple household product"? What does "Füllstation Hub Schlitten" mean?
