In the link you've posted, though, "Pläne" means buying/building a home, IMO. The plural may look odd, but it's an idiom: https://www.korrekturen.de/synonyme/große Pläne haben

In your link, it says "Lebenstraum"--and a bit after, "verschaffen sich finanziellen Spielraum."

Thus, I don't see why it should be "ambitions"--I don't even think you need big and small. The latter was just added to form a pair in German. Also, I don't know how kleine Wünsche leads to avocado toast.

It's about fullfilling your dream of owning a home, which brings us back to:

This isn't even a slogan or tagline. Something like "you don’t have to break the bank to get there/to do it."

If the context is the page I've linked to, I take it to mean that just because you have big ambitions doesn't mean financing them is complicated.

@Ramey It's about real estate financing; you don't need to know much more. I've heard Sparkasse people say things like these before. But sometimes context is indeed needed and googling is much less invasive than asking repeatedly for more context. Your second suggestion is pretty close, IMO. Connecting these small wishes and big plans (big plans = building a home and small wishes = going out to eat, buying expensive clothes, etc.) is a bad idea, though.

As said, they have little to do with each other. It really is about buying a house and being able to afford other things without breaking the bank in the meantime (see below).

It would never occur to me to google someone's question source - a) it seems invasive; b) the asker has the context in front of him/her.

Phil and Thomas Phil, you may get that post removed (happened to me before; also see KudoZ rules) because a lot of people can't provide the context many answerers are looking for--because: confidentiality (whether or not it's available online at present is of no concern). I find it very disconcerting whenever I see full paragraphs of legal documents posted on this forum.

I think the suggestions using "built on" are a bit odd, no offense. One thing has little to do with the other. It's more like: You can still enjoy the little things in life without breaking the bank.

@Björn: "It's easy to google" The context should come from the asker. It's not our task to find out what the question might be. (And delivering context with the question would avoid all those suggestions –wonderful as they may be – which later turn out not to fit the context at all.)

Since there is little to go on, except that it's a real estate context, my first suggestion is more a cultural translation. German texts often state a positive message by using negatives (nicht verzichten), whereas (U.S.) English messages state the positive with positives. the other suggestions are closer to the source text.
