Discussion

B D Finch Aug 27, 2018:
What it is I don't have time to look it up, but the nose of the tile is the lower edge that overlaps the tile below. It is not a "nib".
Johannes Gleim Aug 27, 2018:
@ Irène Is the "nose" part of the tiles or the rainwater gutter (eaves trough)? Where is it located, on the verge or gableboard, on any edge or above the gutter?

nez des tuiles

En construction, il s'agit d'une petite saillie ménagée sur des tuiles plates pour les accrocher à la latte ou sur un conduit de descente des eaux pluviales pour l'empêcher de glisser dans son collier de soutien.

agree Tony M : I think your suggested term is correct, although oddly, your description is wrong — what you describe is the 'nib' of a tile.

Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : From the definition they give, this doesn't seem to be the actual 'nose' of a regular tile.

agree Tony M : Although I am scarcely qualified to 'agree', and I am not peronally familiar with this term, it certainly seems to corresponde to what is being described here.
