I reached this through the translation of "destraler" into the Spanish term zapador, which is also a soldier that opens trenches and clears the way when marching. Zapador translates into sapper or trencher in English, and I think it makes sense here, with the Catalan translation and the rest of the list...

Thanks, John. Now I see this term has been published twice, and there is a lot more about it in the other trend. So thanks for giving your opinion to my comment here :) As axeman sounds to me as a serial killer I would've never decided on that myself :)
