Discussion

Tony M May 13, 2018:
@ Asker Aha!

As usual, that does make it a lot clearer!

I'd interpret this as being 'filler block for seating the rubber seal' — apparently, to keep it in the right place so it can do its job properly.
Daryo May 13, 2018:
a bit more context ...? "joint en caoutchouc de siège"?

I can hardly imagine a car seat that would need a rubber joint - what for? where exactly???

For all we know so far "seating" could be an operation / a task like "putting the rubber joints in position", especially if the part "On Shut Face Of Door" is to taken into account!

Or it could be a part of the door shaped to receive this rubber joint, or ....

You surely could keep guessing / let your imagination off the leash - might be an interesting mind game, but that's not leading to anything reliable.

Context?
Jean-Paul ROSETO (asker) May 13, 2018:
"d'appui" du joint en caoutchouc
Tony M May 13, 2018:
@ Asker Here, it's not that kind of 'seat' — in EN, we never use 'seating' for 'a seat', except in the collective use, e.g. "seating for 120 people".
Jean-Paul ROSETO (asker) May 13, 2018:
joint en caoutchouc de siège

disagree Daryo : with the context so far (un)available - only guessing is possible // There is no point even trying.

disagree B D Finch : The general term "seating" would not be used instead of "seat". In this case, "seating" is a technical term meaning "appui".
