Spanish term

temple

Spanish to English Art/Literary Music Flamenco
This word comes in some flamenco song lyrics. The line is "Viva el cante, viva el temple".
I've found the definition

Sección del cante que sirve, generalmente, para que el cantaor coja el tono del guitarra, característico de la estética musical flamenca. Lo usa el cantaor para encontrar el tono que la guitarra le da.

So, in one sense at least, it's all the "ayayays" before singing a verse. The logical thing would be to leave it as it is, but my translation already contains a lot of Spanish words and I'm trying to confine them to a minimum. Any suggestions?

the feel/ing

It really means the fine tuning, but in Flamenco I think it's more like a feel, almost intangible but still there. Think about it, the art form that is largely based on "duende" is all about feeling and emotion.

In my generation, we used to say "the vibe" without blushing (I still do) and we all knew what it meant :)

the passion / the [right] mood

I agree with Neilmac, as noted.

I just add another option, as you may have to play with the contexts and may be need to be "inconsistent".

As in "¡Viva el cante, viva el temple!", you may have to use "passion" in this case, or even "temple" in the sense of "energy and/or courage" to hit the right note with precision...
