English term

knows his way around

English to Russian Bus/Financial Finance (general) беседа
You have a line item marked "miscellaneous," with charges of more than $1,000 per month for the last three months. Can you explain what this is?

A: [enthusiastic] Oh, sure. They're expenses from G. Enterprises, run by J. G. They're the local distributor I've sponsored that's working on a big government project.
A: Doing a great job, too!
B: What exactly are these expenses?
A: I don't know for sure; but J. G. says the local government down here imposes all these small fees on operations like ours.
A: I wasn't aware of them—no wonder I was having such a hard time getting anywhere.
B: [disbelieving] Are you sure they're legitimate government fees?
A: That's my understanding. Although, again, I'm not exactly sure, as they billed them as "miscellaneous expenses." Don't worry— J. G. really knows his way around.
A: He knows all the right people to talk to. He must be right, because the pace has really picked up since he started working with us.
TIA!
