Italian term

reali verghe

Italian to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature iconography in art
Can anyone shed light on what reali verghe could be in this context...I can't find any such reference in iconography associated with Minerva, and unfortunately I don't have an image of the painting in question.

agree Lisa Jane : It is likely, as there are also broken crowns at her feet-see reference to sceptres in dictionary http://www.garzantilinguistica.it/ricerca/?q=verga
