Yes, you could. Like I said, I don't know the rest of the document - specifically, any sentence about "Installationsebene" would help - thus my note of caution.

You can already see it at the two sentences Rowan posted:
"Schafwolldämmung als Akustikdämmung [...]Liefern und nach Herstellervorschrift in der Akustikebene einbauen"

I don't think it would hurt to say "use according to manufacturer's instructions in ceilings or floors" or something similar the second time around.

This means where you put it. As you correctly noted about the "Installationsebene:

It is not the ceiling itself, but an absorption layer for absorbing sound (duh).

You didn't have to remove your comment, Phil: You're right. I basically used Erzsébet's link (hope she doesn't mind) for the German explanation, but you've also posted a link to a Knauf web page about something like it (although I do not think it's a proprietary word).

First thing I thought about is a dropped/false/suspended ceiling because that's how you integrate certain types of lights too and it's in the German text ("abgehängte Decken"):

Unfortunately, I have little time today to look it up, but I'd prefer ceiling, layer or similar over "insulation" (that's why I only posted the English link) because you already have "-dämmung" in the German document, which is "insulation" as well.

I could imagine it getting confusing or repetitive were you to use the same word for both German terms.

Good morning Rowan! I can only tell you from building our house ourselves, and insulating certain areas with sheep's wool, that the Installationsebene is most likely referring to all areas where pipes and cables are installed, leaving hollow spaces to be filled. installation hollows?
As to the acoustic bit, doesn't the manufacturer have a website with pictures? It puts me more in mind of 'resonance' or 'resonating areas' which create the desired/undesired acoustic effects.
