Hasil pemeriksaan menunjukkan area thyroid yang terlalu banyak menyerap yodium. Area ini disebut (hot spot). Temuan ini membutuhkan pemeriksaan lebih lanjut. Pemeriksaan juga memperlihatkan daerah thyroid yang menyerap sedikiit yodium atau tidak menyerap sana sekali. Area ini disebut (cold spot).
