Italian term

mercato coattivo

Italian to English Bus/Financial Real Estate
From a document on the recent property crisis in Italy

È proprio la sostanziale illiquidità del mercato coattivo ad avere indotto negli ultimi anni valutazioni pressoché unicamente incentrate sulla solvibilità del contraente o dei soggetti individuati come garanti, così come testimonia il graduale, ancorché tardivo, miglioramento del tasso di decadimento dei mutui erogati a partire dal 2008.

Discussion

Judith McLean (asker) Oct 14, 2016:
Well, I have come to conclusion that this type of market involves property sales by means of judicial actions, often judicial auctions.
Judith McLean (asker) Oct 14, 2016:
I wonder if it somehow relates to the ability to foreclose on a property to recover unpaid debt.
philgoddard Oct 13, 2016:
The dictionary says forcible or compulsory, but I can't see how either of those fits here. Here's the context (it's on page 4):

This is what Google says...

neutral philgoddard : Google Translate (I assume that's what you mean) says "compulsory market". I don't know what a "judicial market" is.

I didn't use Google Translate - I looked at my dictionary which didn't help, then just did an ordinary "google" of the Italian and added 'market'... boh!
