: This could well apply to a privately managed prison or mental institution too, or any other institution for that matter. It makes no sense at all to say "professional institution" without saying what kind of an institution it is.

You are perfectly welcome to your strange British spelling:)
What I need is a not-so-coarse version of the brutal Russian abbreviation to explain it to the partners abroad.
I opted for NGO as I said it seems more important to stress that it is a not-for-profit and not a state-supported entity, rather than that it actually belongs to a private individual.
