Any rowing experts out there?

This is the profile of a rower who is going to compete in the Olympics:

"Associé à X lors des Championnats de France bateaux courts, il termine second".

I'm guessing it refers to a coxless pair or double sculls (?) but I don't know if there's a generic word for this class of boat (as opposed to bateaux longs)?

Many thanks.

"Bateaux courts" are ones and twos: single sculls, double sculls and pairs (i.e. boats with one or two rowers). See the results here, for example, all with one or two names per boat:

The generic term "small boats" is used in English:

"Small boat racing helps select French 2013 team
The French Rowing Championships for small boats has helped decide the members that will race on the French national rowing team this season."

"The Small Boats Regatta is a series of knock-out regattas held at the beginning of the Easter Term. There are a number of separate competitions for single and double sculls and pairs of different abilities."

"Small boats (i.e. sculls and pairs) use is restricted by the club for reasons of safety.
The water we boat in can be extremely dangerous."

agree Daniel Gray : Agreed. "French Rowing Championships for small boats" would be a suitable solution: http://www.worldrowing.com/news/small-boat-racing-helps-sele... // Ah, I see you've already posted the link.
