Spanish term

corte (in this context)

Spanish to English Other Textiles / Clothing / Fashion Clothing
This might be really obvious, but I'm doubting myself now. I know you can talk about the "cut" of a jacket, but I think there's another terms for cortes here but I'm not sure. I thought it might be VENT but that appears mostly to be used at the back of the garment to aid movement and usually a maximum of two.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vent_(tailoring)

These are all about blazers/jackets:
Cuatro cortes delanteros y dos bolsillos de plastrón.
Costura central en espalda y cortes laterales con apertura en el bajo.
Cuatro cortes delanteros y tres bolsillos de plastrón.
Costura central en espalda y dos cortes con apertura en el bajo.

The client usually uses slits for slits for apertura, so I don't think it's that.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Thanks.

Jane: Thanks very much for the answer, my only doubt would be that your link says : For those unfamiliar with the term, a vent is the slit you see on the backside of blazers, sport coats, suit jackets, and any other type of jacket. One of my sentences has 4 FRONT vents, do you think vents can be at the front too?

seam

I think it's just another name for seams (costuras). 'Cortes' are the edges of each piece/panel, which are then sewn together.

I've been sewing for 40 years ago, though admittedly I don't sew very much nowadays.

Slits

According to this article, it would seem your client is right.
You are correct in thinking that vents are generlly used for the back of the garment.

It´s hard to say without visualising the garment, though there has to be a difference between "cortes" and "aperturas" - could it be that the slit (which possibly folows a seam, is closed to a certain point and then opens? Hence the difference within the context of this text?
Note from asker:
So, would you use slits for both apertura and corte in this context?

vent

Yes, this was my doubt too and I have been looking for front vents on jackets, they do exist.

Here, for a motorbike jacket, though the vents here are slightly different:

It seems that jackets with four vents tend to be motorcycle jackets, ski jackets or outdoors jackets. Is that possible?
