Types of Exudate From Wounds Exudate refers to the draining of liquid from open wounds in the human body.
This drainage comes from the liquid created by the body as a result of tissue damage.
The specific types of exudate - whether they are purulent, seropurulent or sanguinous -- indicates how the wound is progressing and healing.
Serous
Serous wound drainage looks clear or straw colored. This serous material arises from protein and fluid in the tissue.
Serosanguinous
Serosanguinous fluid appears pink due to a small number of blood cells mixing with serous drainage. “World Wide Wounds” describe a consistency of thin and watery for serosanguinous fluid. Serosanguinous fluid appears normally in the healing of wounds and is typically a pinkish color due to the yellow liquid combining with small blood droplets.
Sanguinous
Sanguinous liquid means red drainage from trauma to a blood vessel that may occur with the cleaning of a wound or excessive movement of the individual with a wound immediately after a wound emerges. The consistency appears thin and watery with sanguinous fluid. Sanguinous represents an infrequent finding in a wound.
Hemorrhaging
Hemorrhaging indicates a leaking blood vessel putting out blood.

I think there is a word that derives from εκροή but my brain has stopped...

discharging vs. dry wound The question is what do you call the type of wound that is still bleeding and/or oozing, as opposed to a wound that has a dry scab and is not oozing or bleeding any more.

Κανονικά, discharge λέγεται το πυώδες ή οροπυώδες έκκριμα - αν εδώ χρησιμοποιείται για να περιγράψει και αιματηρές εκκρίσεις, τότε χρειάζεται διευκρίνιση.
Το «εξίδρωμα» αντιστοιχεί στο exudate, που είναι πάντοτε ορώδες ή πυώδες.
