Дорогие коллеги! Спасибо за Ваши замечания. У меня к сожалению была только фраза, и видимо, с ошибкой. Иду разбираться в ситуации :-)
Elena Va (asker) Apr 19, 2016:
Спасибо огромное за помощь и подробности!!!
В ближайшее время разберусь с информацией.
David Knowles Apr 19, 2016:
This is still very unlikely. It is probablly something times ten to the power something else. That would be standard scientific notation. So five point.seven five times ten to the power minus two-en-plus-one for 5.75 × 10^-(2n+1)
Marlin31 Apr 19, 2016:
Если, как утверждает Дэвид, отрицательное значение показателя степени неприемлимо в английском варианте, проблема решается просто. На языке математики 0.00008^-10(2n-1)=1/{0.00008^10(2n-1)}=1/[8^50(2n-1)]=1/8^(100n-50) - это все одно и тоже. Т.е. почти все тоже самое: one divided by eight hundred-thousandths to the power of ten.... или one eighth to the power of one hundred times n minus fifty. В общем, с т.зр. математики все вышеприведенные выражения суть одно и тоже, но последнее выражение более короткое и отвечает требованиям представления данных в научной и инженерной литературе.
Alexander Teplitsky Apr 19, 2016:
Да, Давид, конечно, десятка пропущена. Вы правильно поняли мое замечание.
David Knowles Apr 18, 2016:
To Alexander 0,00008 = 8,0^(-5). This should be 0.00008 = 8.0 x 10^(-5). (decimal point or decimal comma doesn't matter, but the important point is that it's multiplied by 10 raised to a power). I agree that this looks completely improbable as a real number.
David Knowles Apr 18, 2016:
In English usage, all digits after the decimal point are simply read out. I've no idea how Russians manage to recite pi or any other non-recurring decimal, since there's no denominator! In this case I might say: zero point "four zeros" 8 to the power...
But I'm dubious about the negative power - it's an illogical choice, and better to put the four zeros in the power of 10. It might also be "times 10 to the power of" to make it more like scientific or engineering notation. I'd like to see it in symbols!
Alexander Teplitsky Apr 18, 2016:
Проверьте источник, математики так не пишут: 0,00008 = 8,0^(-5). Поэтому математик написал бы 8,0^50x(2n-1)

Decimals - Thousandths

A decimal is a fractional number and is indicated by digits after a period which is called a decimal point.

Tenths have one digit after the decimal point. The decimal 0.8 is pronounced "eight tenths" or "zero point eight". It is equal to the fraction 8/10.

Hundredths have two digits after the decimal point. The decimal 0.36 is pronounced "thirty-six hundredths" or "zero point thirty-six". It is equal to the fraction 36/100.

Thousandths follow a similar pattern. They have three digits after the decimal point. The decimal 0.749 is pronounced "seven hundred forty-nine thousandths" or "zero point seven forty-nine".

There may be zeros after the decimal point. The decimal 0.064 is pronounced "sixty-four thousandths" or "zero point zero sixty-four".

A decimal number may be larger than 1. The word and may be used to indicate the decimal point so it should not be used in other parts of the name of the decimal. The decimal 234.987 could be pronounced Two hundred thirty-four AND nine hundred eighty-seven thousandths.

Вообще-то, возможны варианты (в зависимости от того, нужно ли это числительное НАПИСАТЬ или ПРОИЗНЕСТИ):

Eight hundred thousandths in the degree...
zero point four zeros eight in the degree...
